Seni Charge with Five Minis! Crosstalk and cooking class at Neighbors Saginuma to improve eating habits
Social Apartment residents are mainly working adults in their 20s and 30s. They tend to work late or have a picky eater due to drinking. Many residents may want to improve their eating habits....
Just as we were thinking about this, Otsuka Pharmaceutical offered us the opportunity to provide "Five Mini," a food-sen-i beverage, free of charge to all social apartments in June under the title of "Hitori Gohan Kaizen Week!
In conjunction with this free offer, we would like to create an opportunity for people to challenge themselves to improve their eating habits! The event, "Sen'i Charge Cooking supported by FibeMini," was held to provide an opportunity for people to take on the challenge of improving their eating habits. The content of the event was a cross-talk session where participants shared their concerns about eating habits when living alone, followed by a professional chef teaching them how to make a simple menu that provides dietary fiber. This time, six social apartment residents concerned about their eating habits participated.
Here is a report on the "Seni Charge Cooking supported by FibeMini" event held at Neighbors Saginuma in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
...
CROSS TALK] What are the eating habit problems faced by working adults in their prime...?
Participants gathered in the lounge, the public space of Neighbors Saginuma. First, they talked about their own eating habits in a crosstalk session.
A common problem in daily eating habits
First, we asked the participants to introduce themselves and share what they are concerned about in their daily eating habits.
The male participants expressed concern about unbalanced nutritional value, such as eating guts of meat instead of cup noodles and vegetables. On the other hand, the female participants also revealed that they are not eating enough in the first place, such as not eating three meals at the same time, or eating only snacks.
These problems were felt not only by the participants but also by many of the residents, as evidenced by the results of a survey on eating habits that was conducted in conjunction with the provision of the Five Mini. A total of 167 residents responded to the question, "Would you like to improve your eating habits?" the percentage of those who answered "would like to improve" was 92.8%, indicating that most people would like to improve their eating habits.
Those who wanted to improve their diets also expressed their serious concerns that are unique to living alone, such as "I want to eat vegetables, but I can't use them properly and end up damaging them and throwing them away," "I hesitate to spend money on food for myself because vegetables are too expensive," and "I am often too busy to eat prepared foods and lunch boxes, so I want to reduce salt content, but it is very difficult. I am so busy that I often eat prepared foods and packed lunches, so I want to reduce salt intake, but it is difficult.
It seems that everyone is aware of the trends in their own eating habits and is aware of the challenges and nutritional excesses and deficiencies within those habits. They also seem to be aware of the steps they can take to improve their eating habits. On the other hand, some said that fundamental actions such as cooking for themselves and gaining knowledge about nutrition are difficult. Social apartments are equipped with a large kitchen space and kitchen appliances such as a microwave oven and cooking utensils such as pans and knives, making it easier for people to cook for themselves than in a typical one-person apartment. Still, some said that it is difficult to make a greater commitment to cooking because they end up eating out when they consider the time required for preparation and washing up, or because they do not know how to cook in the first place.
How do you take in dietary fiber in your daily diet?
How to consume dietary fiber was also a topic of discussion. Fiber helps to regulate the stomach, and is one of the key points to be aware of in one's diet. 98.2% of the residents actually answered "Yes" to the question, "Do you think you need fiber in your daily diet? 98.2% of the residents actually answered "Yes" to the question "Do you think you need fiber in your daily diet? On the other hand, when asked, "Do you think you get enough fiber in your diet?" only 21% of the respondents answered "yes" to the question "Do you think you get enough fiber? We found that many people know they need dietary fiber in their daily diet, but in reality, they do not feel they are getting enough.
Some people also say that they don't know which foods are high in fiber in the first place. Some said that even foods with high fiber content were difficult to prepare and did not last long, or that there are insoluble and soluble types of fiber, and that it was difficult to get the desired stomach condition, or that it was important to find foods that fit into their lifestyle.
Charge up on fiber with Five Mini!
There is a desire to easily consume fiber in their daily diet...and they want to do so. As more than 90% of the people surveyed said they would like to take in dietary fiber easily, it seems that even if they are too busy to take in dietary fiber in their daily diet, they would like to do so easily.
There are menus that are easy to prepare and provide fiber, and there are Five Minis that are tasty, refreshing, and a good way to replenish sen-i. There are a variety of self-care options available, so it may be a good idea to find a method that suits your lifestyle. Participants in the "One-person Food Improvement Week! We asked them about their impressions after drinking Five Mini.
Some people drank it not only to take in dietary fiber, but also to refresh themselves or to become more conscious of their eating habits. Some of them even have an unusual way of drinking it as a hangover spell..!
Let's cook a dish rich in dietary fiber!
After the participants had talked about their eating habits in the crosstalk session, and their awareness of eating habits and dietary fiber had been heightened, the class moved to the kitchen for a cooking class on easy ways to consume dietary fiber! The instructor was Ms. Yuki, the manager of "World Neighbors Cafe," a cafe operated by our company, and everyone cooked lunch while listening to her lecture on how to prepare the dishes.
The menu consisted of fried broccoli and kikurage mushrooms with egg, which are also introduced on the official Five Mini website, Kiriboshi Daikon Gyoza (Kiriboshi Daikon Gyoza), an original recipe by YUKI, and miso soup with enoki mushrooms and wakame seaweed. Let's start cooking right away!
First, let's start with miso soup with enoki mushrooms and wakame seaweed. Before cooking, rehydrate the dried wakame in water. Dried wakame is recommended if you want to take in dietary fiber! says YUKI. Dried wakame has more dietary fiber than fresh wakame because the nutrients are concentrated by drying. After the wakame is rehydrated, cut it into bite-size pieces with enoki mushrooms. Add granulated dashi to a pot and bring to a boil, then add enoki mushrooms and wakame and bring to a simmer. Finally, add miso and you are done.
Next, we will make kiriboshi-daikon gyoza. This is YUKI's original recipe that turns kiriboshi daikon, which is rich in dietary fiber, into a main dish! Yuki prepares the kiriboshi daikon with carrots and shiitake mushrooms in advance, and then wraps them in gyoza dumpling skins.
When all the wrapping is done, place the gyoza on the pan and bake them. Here is another tip from Yuki. If you lightly flour the wrapped gyoza when you place them on the plate, the flour will stick to the bottom of the gyoza in good condition when you place them on the frying pan, so they will naturally get feathers when they are baked.
Finally, we will make the broccoli and kikurage egg stir-fry introduced on the official Five Mini website. First, boil broccoli and cut kikurage into bite-size pieces. Then, lightly cook a beaten egg in a frying pan and remove it when it is half-cooked. The key is to fry the ingredients and eggs separately so that the eggs do not become dry due to overheating.
After the ingredients are finished frying, add the eggs back in and fry quickly until they are combined. Finally, season with salt and pepper to taste.
This completes the entire dish! A lunch that provides dietary fiber is ready.
Lunch time: Everyone enjoys a lunch full of dietary fiber!
After placing the three dishes on plates, everyone moves to the dining table and enjoys lunch together. Perhaps it was because we had talked about eating habits and dietary fiber in the crosstalk session, but the delicious dishes full of dietary fiber were sure to get everyone's chopsticks moving. The dumplings disappeared in no time at all, and some participants had second helpings of miso soup and rice several times!
When we asked the participants what they thought of the event while eating the rice together, they replied, "I learned about the current situation of people of my generation in terms of eating habits, which I had thought I had to do something about, and it gave me a more positive outlook," "It was surprisingly easy, so I want to cook the same dishes again," "I cook for myself when I have time, and when I am busy, I use Five Mini to make up for my food intake. I would like to try cooking the same dishes again because it was surprisingly easy," and "When I have time, I would like to cook for myself, and when I am busy, I would like to supplement my diet with FIVE MINI so that I can take in more dietary fiber. We were also able to catch a glimpse of the efforts that can only be made in social apartments, such as, "Let's get together again and cook a meal that contains dietary fiber.
The "Sen'i Charge Cooking
With this, "Sen'i Charge Cooking supported by FibeMini" came to a successful conclusion! We were able to enjoy a cross-talk about eating habits, a cooking class full of dietary fiber by Yuki, as well as a chance for participants to interact with each other.
We hope that the "Improve Your Eating Habits Week!" and the consumption of FibeMini have provided an opportunity for people to become more conscious of their eating habits and dietary fiber, and to take the first step toward healthy eating habits, including the challenge of cooking for oneself and improving the nutritional balance of one's own diet.
