Social Summer Outing" is an annual event held at Social Apartment every summer. This is a large-scale social event that transcends the boundaries between properties, bringing together tenants from nearly 50 properties managed by our company, expanding the scope of social exchange from the daily exchanges within each resident's property. In recent years, it seems that the tenants who have gotten to know each other through these exchanges have become bridges between properties, and exchanges between properties have also become more active!

Last year, we held a "summer festival" event with the resident organizers, but this year, in order to hold the event with even more freedom and enjoyment for as many participants as possible, we asked the residents for ideas and plans, and challenged the residents to make their "I want to try it! We invited residents to come up with their own ideas and plans, and challenged them to make their "I want to try it!

This time, "Maze," a music event producer team formed by two residents of Neighbors Kyoto Nijojo and Social Apartment Miyamaedaira, planned a festival filled with the "likes" of the residents! They not only proposed a plan, but also summoned team members, directed the creative process, devised measures to attract customers, and even managed the event on the day of the event...all with the passionate wish that "all the residents who will participate on the day will have fun! With this passionate wish, the team worked with the planning team from the very beginning to organize the entire process of the event over a period of four months.

The passion of "Mixed" and the power of the residents came together and mingled, resulting in a record number of over 200 participants in this year's "Social Summer Outing 2024 - presented by Mixed" event!

Saturday, July 20

Saturday, July 20. A total of 220 Social Apartment residents and alumni gathered at the skateboard park (DIORAMA SKATE LOUNGE) in Itabashi Ward.

This large-scale event has been held separately in the Kanto and Kansai regions in the past, but this time it was called the "East-West Mixed Music Festival" and was held jointly in the Kanto and Kansai regions. Despite being held at a venue in the Kanto region, performers and participants came from properties in the Kansai region as well.

Two of the overall producers "Mixed

They first met 7 years ago when they started living in social apartments. Although they now live in different social apartments, they formed a team called "Maze" ( IG: maze.officialevents ) and started working together. They are producing the music event "maze" with the hope of creating a space where various cultures and people are interwoven with a focus on music.

The diverse performers and vendors bring their "likes" and transmit them to the public, the participants gather around these "likes," and the residents with different tastes and backgrounds mix and mingle with each other.

5 hours and 30 minutes" created by ALL residents

In keeping with the theme of the event, "Created together with all the residents," the creative team that created the posters, participant wristbands, and other visuals that decorated the venue on the day of the event, the performers and vendors who made the event so much fun, and even the day's management staff were all Social Apartment residents (including some alumni). The creative team that created the posters, participant wristbands, and other visuals, the performers and vendors who made the event so much fun, and even the day's management staff were all Social Apartment residents (including some alumni).

After calling for applications from approximately 3,000 diverse residents, 16 groups of stage performers and 9 booths for exhibitions, product sales, demonstrations, etc. were selected to share their "likes" in their own ways.

The event was open to all, and because of the long duration of the event (5 hours and 30 minutes), even those who had "set their sights on this event and entered it! But, after watching the performances, many of them were so absorbed in the event that they "unexpectedly finished the whole race! I'm sure there must have been many people who were "aiming for the finish line!

The Creative Team created this list of performances, which included DJs, dancers, visual art performers, musicals, bands, and a wide variety of other performers.

Some of the performers were bands that had been performing together for many years, while others had taken this event as an opportunity to form a unit within the property! Some of the performers had been performing together for many years. Some of the performers may have practiced in the property's music studio or fitness studio with mirrors for dancing before the day of the event.

The first to liven up the venue were everyone who performed dance, visual art, and musical performances! All of the performances were very powerful!

Tsuchie from Neighbors Kamikitazawa performed for the second time following his performance at the Culture Fair in February◎This time he performed solo!
HiCaLu & Suzuoh from Social Apartment Miyamaedaira. The strongest collaboration between dance students and dancers. I was attracted by the expression of these two dancers, who are both supple and strong!
New Chemi-Efinity" from Social Apartment Shinkenmigawa. The dancers were so cool with their sharp dance moves! The dancers were so expressive that the audience danced along with them with smiles on their faces.
h2u" from Neighbors Kamikitazawa. A new genre of "visual art performance" that combines sound and art! Isn't he too versatile?
Nozomi Itagaki from ▲OTOWA Kobe Motomachi. This was a musical performance, which was also his graduation show. I never thought I would be able to hear him at such a close distance! His beautiful voice and power were breathtaking! (*OTOWA Kobe Motomachi will cease operation at the end of May 2024.)

Booths also opened!

Festival food! From omelette rice, bahn mi, mini burgers to baked sweets and popsicles ◎ ◎ Demonstration booths offered fortune-telling.
Booths with a variety of demonstrations, such as fortune-telling and aroma coordination!

From a famous company...

We received sponsorship and cooperation from Ira Cola, NAGO CRAFT, HOLON, a craft gin company, and ston, a deep breathing habit device company!

The residents who came to the event were very happy to see us!

DJs joined the party one after another! Dance battles broke out?

The DJs all made the event a great success with their respective setlists. This time, DJs from "SA Miyamaedaira," "Neighbors Musashi Nakahara," and "Kyoto Nijojo" joined us!

And to the DJ's surprise, dancers who had finished their performances had a dance battle in the skate park! I never thought I would see such spontaneous "mingling"! The breakdancing and freestyle improvisational dancing, which are rarely seen, were a sight to behold, and the eyes of those around me were glued to the floor!

Bands formed after meeting at SA

There are many music lovers in Social Apartment. Many of them must have such memories of going to karaoke together or going out to festivals. Some of them are still active in music, while others have picked up a musical instrument for the first time in a long time since they were students or have recently started playing an instrument! Many of the bands were joined by other tenants who had not picked up a musical instrument in a long time.

HJJ Band Club" from Neighbors Higashi Jujo

The timing of the song selection was such that the same songs were played at the same time. The band members agreed to perform "Takamine no Hanako-san" by Back Number, which was performed as it was on the day of the event. Contrary to our concerns, the two bands performed the same song, but they delivered completely different performances and views of the world to the audience.

▲"Pizza Potato" from Neighbors Ukima Park
Yosumi" from World Neighbors Kiyosumi Shirakawa
Neighbors Kasai "Shikaze Renpatsu
Innommé" from FILMS Wako
The last song "The Neighbors" was performed by Neighbors Musashi-Nakahara. The two members of "Mixed" also participated on drums and chorus. The performance was so compelling that the audience became one, and it gave me goosebumps.

This year's major summer event, "Social Summer Outing 2024 -presented by Mixed-," was a great success! Thank you to all the residents and alumni who participated, and to all the performers and vendors!

If you missed it this year, we hope to see you next year! If you missed it this year, we look forward to seeing you next year!

Editor's Postscript

I first met the two members of "Mixed" at the SA x MLS CULTURAL FAIR held in February of this year, where I only briefly greeted Masuda-san a.k.a. Masuda-san, who was performing as a DJ, and Chisaki-san, who came to the event as a participant. At the time, I had no idea that we would be working together to create such a large-scale event. During the four months leading up to the event, regular weekly meetings were heatedly held, and both of them handled a huge amount of tasks together. For the author, who does not have many opportunities to directly interact with residents, it was exciting to see their individual "colors" and "fun and coolness," and to feel the "love for social apartments" in the words and actions of these two long-time SA residents.

And this time, when the OBOGs joined us, it was impressive to see them reminiscing about their life at Social Apartment, which had become a bit distant after their graduation, and saying, "Those days (when we met everyone) were so much fun. They each seemed to be picking up memories of the time when they were residents, and I felt that I was given a very warm feeling from them. (Please come back again, as a resident, anytime! (Laughter)

The enthusiasm of not only the two "mixed" artists, but also the creative team members, performers, and vendors for their "likes," and the diversity of each person's individuality and the "colors" that are their strengths, were all strongly expressed and mixed together at this year's Social Summer Outing. The more I get to know the residents of Social Apartment, the more interesting they are.

I can't help but wonder what kind of "colors" will continue to appear, be drawn out, and interweave in the future.
