[Neighbors Rooms] Peek Inside the Trendiest Rooms – Photo Contest Winners Revealed!
Ever wondered how people really live inside Social Apartment?
Our properties come with not only your own private room but also shared lounges and public areas designed for connection and community. It’s a new way of living where your world naturally expands—without giving up your personal space.
To celebrate the creativity of our residents, we held a Room Photo Contest last December—and now we’re excited to reveal the six winning rooms! From clever storage hacks to beautiful decor ideas, these spaces are full of inspiration.
Rooms were judged on how well the layout was used, the thought put into furniture and interior design, and overall originality. We created three award categories: Gold, Silver, and a Special Jury Prize.
So how are residents making the most of their space? Let’s start with the Silver Prize winners and find out!
■Silver Award
Two rooms were selected for the Silver Award: Neighbors Miyamaedaira and Neighbors Meguro!
①Silver Award: Neighbors Miyamaedaira (Y’s room)
The first Silver Prize goes to Y, a resident at Neighbors Miyamaedaira, whose room stands out with a sleek, self-made bed featuring a built-in side table.
Y set out to create a space that feels light and breezy—and it totally works. The right side of the room serves as the cozy living zone, while the left is kept clear with only low-height pieces to make way for a projector setup. When the screen lights up, the entire room transforms into an immersive theater-like experience.
It’s a perfect blend of functionality and refined style—simple, smart, and seriously cool.
②Silver Award: Neighbors Meguro (J’s room)
This hotel-inspired room is the home of J at Neighbors Meguro, and it’s a masterclass in clean, intentional design.
Through clever furniture choices, a custom-fit double bed, and some brilliant DIY, J has maximized the space without sacrificing comfort. Everything feels purposeful—especially the wall storage, which keeps the essentials hidden and the vibe clean.
What’s really cool? The room shifts with the time of day. In the daylight, it’s a bright and productive workspace. At night, it becomes a cozy cinema, thanks to a projector setup. And the lighting? Total game changer. Whether it’s soft blue for relaxing or a cyberpunk glow for fun, the room transforms at the push of a button.
Minimal but luxurious—this is modern living at its finest.
■Gold Award:FILMS Wako(I’s room)
Our Gold Prize winner is I from FILMS Wakō, with a room that feels like a page out of an interior design catalog.
With its soft whites, natural wood accents, bamboo, washi elements, and greenery, the room perfectly captures the feeling of quiet elegance and cozy warmth. It’s like stepping into a peaceful retreat.
What really impressed the judges was the spatial design. By placing low-profile furniture toward the back of the room, I created a feeling of spaciousness. Many of the pieces offer smart storage solutions, and the open-leg designs keep everything feeling light and airy.
The art and personal touch are perfectly in harmony. Even the photo itself was thoughtfully shot, timed to catch the sunlight filtering through the blinds for a stunning visual effect.
This room is the definition of thoughtful design—peaceful, stylish, and oh-so-inviting.
■ Judge’s Special Picks: 3 Unique Rooms That Caught Our Eye
“80s Vibes Master” Award – MAX’s Room at FILMS Wakō
When it comes to 80s love, MAX goes all in—and his room at FILMS Wakō proves it!
Lit up with bold purples, blues, and neon lights, this room is packed from wall to wall with memorabilia—from Top Gun to Mission: Impossible—featuring autographs, rare collectibles, and nostalgic gems that any fan would love. It’s a true shrine to 80s pop culture.
Each item has a backstory, and MAX shares a few of them in a separate feature article. It’s a space that’s bold, nostalgic, and totally one-of-a-kind.
Houseplant Master Award: World Neighbors Kiyosumi Shirakawa (C’s room)
Say hello to C’s lush and leafy room at World Neighbors Kiyosumi-Shirakawa—a true haven for houseplants!
Inspired by the cozy vibe of a stylish café, this space is filled with vibrant greenery. Keeping houseplants healthy isn’t easy—too much or too little care, and they’re quick to wilt. But C clearly has the magic touch, keeping a wide variety of plants in tip-top shape with no yellowing leaves in sight.
Living surrounded by so much green energy must be incredibly refreshing—and honestly, a total mood booster!
A Cozy Life Surrounded by Favorites – H’s Room at Neighbors Higashi-Nakano
This charming space is full of things that bring joy—handmade shelves, beloved plates from across Japan, and souvenirs from past travels. H has created a room that’s both personal and peaceful.
In a single-room layout, the space is thoughtfully divided into areas for eating, sleeping, and working. The entrance is cleverly hidden from view to create a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
The star of the room for us? The custom-built shelf that not only fits the fridge perfectly, but also doubles as a display for beautiful, handpicked pieces—each adding a personal touch.
“I feel happiest when I’m spending time in my room, surrounded by the things I love,” H shares—and that sentiment perfectly captures the essence of the Social Apartment way of living.
Your room is your own little world—shaped by who you are and what you love. Looking at these amazing spaces, we were reminded just how special it is to be surrounded by your favorite things, especially when spending time on your own.
We’ll be running our room photo contest again from time to time, so if you have a space you love, don’t be shy—share it with us!
Maybe next time, your room will take the spotlight…✨
