Congratulations on your decision to move into Social Apartment!
This is Hayashi from the Social Apartment Sales Department.

Some of you may not feel it yet because you have not moved in yet, and some of you may be getting anxious because your move is just around the corner. Many of you may have made the decision to change your environment and are looking forward to your new life.

I myself used to live in a social apartment.
In this article, I would like to review with you the preparations for moving in, including my own experiences, so that you can move in smoothly.

In this article, we will discuss the furniture and household items you will need. Moving in is the perfect time to create a space to your liking. Let's reconfirm what you need while preparing your furnishings!

Minimum furniture and appliances you will need

必須家具
Social apartments come pre-equipped with the furniture and appliances you will need for common areas such as the lounge and kitchen. Therefore, even first-time residents can start their new life with minimal preparation.

On the other hand, unlike share houses, social apartments are designed to be long-term residences, so you will need to bring your own furniture.
Closets and air conditioners are provided in the rooms, but let's review the other furniture and appliances you will need to live in a social apartment.

The first thing you will need to prepare

Bed
Refrigerator
Lighting
Curtains
Wifi router
Slippers

With these items, you will have a good base for your life from the first day you move in. Prepare what you need based on the measurements you took yourself during the viewing.

If you are interested in what other tenants are doing with their rooms, please check out this article.

▶Room Introduction Articles List

■About Lighting Type

As for the lighting, it is either a ceiling light type or a duct rail type. Both of these types can be easily purchased at electronics retailers or online.
シーリングライト
The ceiling light type is compatible with general round lights or pendant lights that are directly attached to the ceiling.
ダクトレール
Duct rail type rooms are designed to install spotlight lighting as shown in the photo. If you want to install a ceiling light, you can purchase a conversion plug on the Internet.

I lived in a duct-rail type room, and 3 or 4 spotlights were enough.

About Wifi Router

If you want to use Wi-Fi in your room, you need to prepare a Wi-Fi router. Since the Internet wiring has already been installed, there is no need to sign a contract with a telecommunications company. Just purchase a commercially available router, connect it to a power outlet and a LAN cable, and you can start using it right away.

Daily necessities unique to social apartments

生活用品
Next, let's take a look at the daily necessities that are unique to social apartments. I would like to introduce some of the items that other tenants, including myself, used while moving in. These are not essential when you move in, but most people use them.

■ Rice cooker

It is optional, but you should prepare it if you need it because it is not provided in the common area. The reason why it is not provided is because it is difficult to manage hygiene by using it for a long time and to share it.

■Bot with water purifier

Many people use this for drinking. Brita is a well-known brand. Many people may not be familiar with them, but if you are not comfortable drinking tap water, we recommend purchasing one.

■Laundry bag

Since you will be living in a shared laundry, it is convenient to have a bag to carry your laundry. A basket is fine, but we recommend a bag type that leaves both hands free for opening and closing the door, etc. (Incidentally, I use a bag for carrying my laundry in the laundry room.
(By the way, I reused a large IKEA bag that came with my furniture when I bought it.)

Baskets (with handles)

If you live in an apartment that does not have a kitchen or shower in the room, it is very convenient to have a basket to take with you to the shared space.

A bath set (shampoo, body soap, etc.)
Foods and seasonings for cooking

Plastic is recommended because it is lightweight, water-resistant, and rust-proof.
I used to carry all these things by hand, thinking "this is all I need," but I usually forgot something and had to return to my room. So, I recommend that you put all your things in a basket.

■Slippers

Rules on whether or not to wear slippers vary from property to property, but slippers are a necessity in both cases.
Personally, I recommend rubber or plastic ones as they last longer. Cloth slippers tend to deteriorate easily and require a little more time and effort to care for.

We told you at the time of the preview about the furniture that you must prepare, but some of the daily necessities that would be useful to have may have been new to you.

Moving in is the perfect time to create a space to your liking. When life becomes routine, we tend to put off creating a space. That is why we encourage you to imagine your ideal life while you are still living in your new house.

In the next issue, we will discuss tips for those who are just about to move in. Please read that as well to further advance your preparations for moving in.
