Terminals Shin-Osaka] You'll Love Your Neighborhood Even More. Bicycle Lifestyle Recommendations
When you hear the phrase "living in the Shin-Osaka area," what kind of lifestyle comes to mind?
Some may have a strong image of a business district and wonder, "It's convenient for commuting, but how is it for living?" Some people may wonder, "It's convenient for commuting, but what about living in the new Osaka area?
If you have a bicycle, your commute to work and holidays will be much richer. You can go to work lightly, avoiding crowded stations, or go a little farther with friends on weekends and holidays. The choice of bicycles will expand the enjoyment of your life beyond the boundaries of the city.
In this issue, we explore the "lifestyle expanded by bicycles" with Mr. Kido, who is in charge of development, at Terminal's Shin-Osaka, which is scheduled to open in August 2025.
Comfortable commuting access. We examined the commuting time between Umeda Station and the property.
The most attractive thing about commuting by bicycle is that it is stress-free. You don't have to worry about congestion or delays, and the morning ride to work with a breeze is more comfortable than you might think. The daily commute is also a bit of exercise, and you will wake up refreshed both physically and mentally.
From the Kigawahigashi area where Terminals Shin-Osaka is located, you have easy access to the main business districts of Osaka City. Click here for approximate travel times.
The Umeda area, in particular, is about 15 minutes away by bicycle. If you choose a riverside route with few traffic lights and a good view, you can enjoy a smoother ride.
Nakanoshima and Honmachi are a little further away, but the distance is just right for morning exercise. The sensation of waking up while lightly moving your body is beneficial to both your health and your mood.
We actually tried cycling from Umeda Station to "Terminals Shin-Osaka" and found that it took 16 minutes! (*This may vary depending on the route and traffic conditions.)
If you are considering commuting to work, please try the bicycle route.
All routes cross the Yodo River, so you can feel the morning light and breeze as you go to work. It may be a way to start your day with a bit of extra space and slip away from the stresses of the city.
Cycling around the neighborhood on your day off
We took the opportunity to take a leisurely tour around the neighborhood of Terminals Shin-Osaka by bicycle on our day off. The person who conducted the interview this time was Mr. Kido, who is in charge of the development of Terminals Shin-Osaka. On the route from Nishinakajima-Minamikata to Umeda, we stopped at three spots of interest to Mr. Kido.
This area has many gourmet spots such as Nishinakajima-Minamikata and Juso, and the charm of this area is that there is a little "side trip fun" in everyday life.
Before the bike tour, we first had to eat!
📍 Ramen Pi!
Before cycling, let's get something to eat first. Ramen Pi!" is a popular ramen restaurant located near Nishinakajima-Minamikata Station. Ramen Pi! I'm curious about the origin of the name.
Mr. Kido commented:
"I had the tsukemen this time. The huge piece of chashu pork on top of the ramen was very impressive! Despite its appearance, the taste was light and easy to eat, and I enjoyed the somewhat Western atmosphere of the soup, with the soup being served bubbling and the seasoning being pepper. "
I feel a bit privileged to have such a restaurant in the neighborhood of my property.
By the way, "Mankind's All Noodles," located just around the corner, is a well-known and popular restaurant. You might want to try it even if you are prepared to wait in line.
From Nishinakajima Minamikata to Umeda! Refresh yourself on the riverbed
We rented bicycles at a shared bike port near Nishinakajima-Minamikata Station and went to the Yodogawa riverbed.
It was a cloudy day, but there were people enjoying day camping and the atmosphere was perfect for a picnic. Riding a bicycle along the riverbank, the noise from the cars becomes distant, and the wind and the sky seem closer.
The "Juso Kobashi Bridge," a stopover along the way, offers a panoramic view of the railway bridge and the Yodo River. Even on a cloudy day, Kido-san couldn't help but stop to take pictures of the view.
After crossing the Yodo River, one enters the Nakatsu area. Small discoveries in the city
📍Knot market place (cafe)
As we entered the Nakatsu area, a small café called "Knot market place" suddenly appeared in a residential area. The aroma of coffee wafted through the cozy store. With a cup of carefully brewed coffee, I took a break in this wonderful space that I found in an unexpected place.
Kido's comment:
"The doughnuts were delicious with just the right amount of sweetness! It looks like a good place to have coffee with friends on a holiday or to work on a weekday for a change of pace. "
📍PORT FURNITURE
Just around the corner from the cafe is a vintage European furniture selection store. Mr. Kido has always been curious about this store.
Mr. Kido's comment:
"It is a select store of vintage European furniture, and there were many masterpieces lined up inside the store. Although it is a small store, the owner is very particular about the selection of furniture, and you can enjoy just talking to him about each piece. Incidentally, the owner paints the walls (bottom left in the photo) yellow on a regular basis!
There is also a sister apparel store about 10 minutes away by bicycle, which I would love to visit if I have time! "
As a side note, Kido-san used to be an interior sales clerk, so he was most excited about this store. He also commented a lot.
📍obento Tete.
We didn't get a chance to stop by this time, but we did find a bento shop with a kind of cute appearance. I checked it out and found that it is a bento shop that specializes in using spices. It seems that the bento is sold by reservation on the Internet and is limited to 20 servings. They also serve Taiwanese cuisine at their store. If you are interested, please check it out.
Arriving in the Umeda area
A few minutes on the bike again. In no time at all, we arrived at the Umeda area.
By taking a slow bike ride, you can enjoy the scenery that you would not normally see and take a breather when you meet someone by chance.
This time we took a leisurely tour of the neighborhood, but it would surely be fun to go a little further afield with your property mates.
Riding a bicycle with the wind in your face is a great way to detoxify your digital life.
In fact, there are so many more great spots around Terminals Shin-Osaka that we can't even begin to introduce them to you.
In the next issue, we will be bringing you the "Juso Area Sake Hashigo-Shuppan Edition. Please look forward to it.
Whether you commute to work or take a day off, why not broaden your daily scenery a little by taking a bicycle as an option?
